Johannesburg, South Africa – In a bid to champion creativity and collaboration within the South African creative community, SPACES AFRICA and renowned marketing digital agency, Fresh AF, joined forces to host CR8TOR-CON. This exclusive event, held at USURPA, the first Digital African Fine Art NFT gallery in Africa, marked a significant milestone in the local creative scene.

CR8TOR-CON served as an intimate gathering, bringing together a curated selection of South African tastemakers, curators, marketers, and creatives. As a re-introduction to SPACES AFRICA, the platform that has been reshaping creative spaces since its inception in 2016, the event provided a platform for meaningful discussions and artistic expression.

Renowned creatives from Southern Africa, including Aart Verrips, Buqaqawuli Thamani Nobakada, Lazi Matebula, and others, were invited to participate in panel discussions centered around the themes of “Creativity & Collaboration.” Their visual artworks were also showcased within the gallery, adding depth to the immersive experience.

Hosted by Shamiso Mosaka, the event featured a presentation by Jay Kayembe, Executive Creative Director at Fresh AF and SPACES AFRICA. This was followed by two-panel discussions moderated by Shamiso Mosaka and Rudzani “Roo” Netshiheni, Culture Curator at Fresh AF and SA Creatives. The discussions delved into various aspects of navigating the creative industry, offering valuable insights to attendees.

Jay Kayembe expressed his satisfaction with the event, stating, “Our team has dedicated the past seven years to developing Spaces Africa as a platform to empower young African creatives. The inaugural CR8TOR-CON was a testament to our commitment, and we’re grateful for the support from our partners and guests.”

The evening was further enriched by performances from BASMNT, Fif Laaa, Wendy Ntinezo, Deniece Marz, and IceCreamSundayz, providing a vibrant backdrop to the event. As CR8TOR-CON concluded, attendees were left eagerly anticipating the future of creativity and collaboration in Africa.

Fresh AF Managing Director, Ally Fathana, emphasized the importance of the partnership, stating, “The launch of CR8TOR-CON with Spaces Africa signifies our joint dedication to empowering creatives and reshaping our industry. Together, we’re paving the way for creatives to thrive and innovate.”

With its focus on fostering creativity and collaboration, CR8TOR-CON promises to be a catalyst for positive change within the South African creative landscape. Stay tuned for more groundbreaking initiatives from SPACES AFRICA and Fresh AF.
